After several iterations as a company, we’ve recently refined our strategy to focus exclusively on solving one of our nation’s toughest problem’s - healthcare. Specifically, we seek to bring healthcare companies into the modern era by helping them to design and build consumer-grade digital tools to improve the customer experience for patients and physicians. What does an Associate Project Manager do at Modea?
 
We tackle client projects as cross-functional teams made up of software engineers, designers, project managers, strategists and web analysts. These teams work very closely with each other and the client to architect and build awesome, consumer-grade experiences.
 
We’re currently looking for a sharp associate project manager to 1) drive the execution of our projects following our Lean Agile process 2) help advance our project management practice by contributing to process innovation and increasing collaboration across teams. The right person for this role is very organized, has strong communication skills,  and has an understanding of the web design and development process. This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Blacksburg, VA.
 
What are we looking for?
 
Here is a list of skills and qualities that are critical to this role:

Project Management

  • Facilitates the teams’ effective use of company best practices
  • Ensures transparency and communication paths are effective
  • Schedule project meetings and take notes during meetings
  • Facilitates meetings for deliverables he or she is managing
  • Follow up on meeting action items
  • Help maintain project plans & timelines
  • Assist account leaders in day-to-day efforts of Client Services
  • Coordinate with geographically dispersed team members and/or teams
  • Ensures team is clear on priority based on scope of work

Product Management

  • Ensure business rules and acceptance criteria are met
  • Log clear, concise, and consistent errors in company QA system
  • Test web applications in various browser and devices when necessary
  • Make recommendations to improve overall quality
  • Ensures team stays focused on their commitment to deliver the highest business value
  • Establishes and maintains time-boxed cadences of product creation and product releases 

Process Management

  • Facilitate effective use of team best practices/norms
  • Help evolve team processes to achieve goals.
  • Continually evaluates the current state and applies process adjustments and improvements as required to meet the team’s objectives
  • Monitors performance of the team that helps define team capacity
  • Active participant in the team’s definition and modeling of best practices in Lean, Agile, Kanban, Scrum, Project and Program Management.
  • Uses existing tools to achieve program outcomes.
  • Continually engaged with the team and quick to identify, assess root cause and apply adjustments, including impediment tracking and management
  • Managing documentation (Acceptance Criteria, etc.)

What we are looking for

  • 1-5 years experience
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Strong interest in technology
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Strong mental stamina and the ability to multitask
  • Flexibility to change plans, priorities and demand
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Ability to communicate negative information in a positive, constructive way
  • Ability to work efficiently and hit deadlines
  • Knowledge of Lean and Agile principles and practices is a plus

Education

  • BA/BS degree in a related area or equivalent project management experience.

Certifications

  • Project Management Professional Certification – Nice to have
  • Agile Scrum Master Certification – Nice to have
