What does a Project Manager do at Modea?

We are digital consultants first, and our project management team assumes this same mentality in all aspects of their work. We tackle client projects as cross-functional teams made up of software engineers, UX/designers, project managers, strategists and analysts. These teams work very closely with each other and the client to architect and build awesome, consumer-grade experiences.

We are looking for someone who has the right mix of experience, skills, and attributes commonly associated with project, product, and process management positions that have been influenced by Lean Agile practices. The right person is extremely detail-oriented and adept at time management. This is a job for the avid multi-tasker who will excel at producing high-quality, accurate work in a fast-paced environment.  This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Blacksburg, VA.

Here are a few specific things we’d be looking for you to do:
 
  • Project Management:  Our team of project managers excels at organization and communication.  With this position, you will be asked to schedule and facilitate project meetings, create and maintain project timelines, and manage day-to-day communication and overall needs of multiple clients.
  • Product Management:  With this role, it’s not just about being a list maker or note taker.  You must be passionate about the work we’re producing for our clients.  You will need to understand each client’s business, manage product requirements, and ensure the team is focused on delivering the highest quality and business value.
  • Lean Agile:  Our team of project managers own work management, and are always looking for improvements that better the team and product delivery.   If you have not been trained or are not certified, you will be coached and expected to advocate for practices and principles of Lean, Agile, Kanban, and Scrum.  Risk management, monitoring team performance, and creating a transparent environment between teams and clients are all key elements of this role. 
  • Account Growth:  Long-term partnerships with our clients are critical to company growth and development.  With this position, you will be managing the growth and health of one or multiple healthcare accounts.  Financial health, team health, and overall client satisfaction with our services are responsibilities included in this role.

  • Related BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-7 years project management experience
     

Additionally, here is a list of skills and qualities we’d like you to have:
 
  • Scrum Master certification (through Scrum Alliance or other)
  • Some awareness or experience in any of the following:
    • Lean Agile principles and practices
    • Release management
    • Product backlog management
    • Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
